Paver Driveways Built for Daily Traffic

A driveway carries thousands of pounds every day. We build ours with a deeper base and a herringbone or interlocking pattern that locks the pavers together under turning tires.

Paver Driveways

Built right, start to finish

Cracked, sunken or oil-stained concrete is the most common reason homeowners call us about a driveway. Replacing it with pavers fixes the surface and also the cause: we correct the base, re-slope the drive so water runs to the street or a drain, and add edge restraint so nothing creeps.

Pavers also make repairs simple. If a sewer lateral or utility line needs work years from now, the pavers in that section come up and go back down without a patch scar across the drive.

What we do

Paver Driveways services

Borders & accent bands

Soldier course borders and contrasting bands that frame the drive.

Steep driveways

Interlocking patterns and anchored edges for the hillside drives common in the Bay Area.

Permeable driveways

Open-joint systems that let rainwater soak in instead of running off.

Approach & apron work

Coordination with city requirements where the drive meets the sidewalk.

What's underneath

What's under your driveway

This is the build-up we use for paver driveways. Depths change with soil, slope and use.

You'll never see these layers once the job is done. They're the reason the surface stays flat, drains properly and doesn't need to be redone in five years.

Typical build-up. Depths are adjusted to your soil and use.

Our process

How we build it

  1. Estimate & design

We measure, review the slope and choose a pattern and colors with you.

  2. Removal

The old surface is broken out and hauled away, and we dig to driveway depth (10 to 14 inches).

  3. Heavy base

Road base is compacted in lifts, with geotextile fabric over weak or wet clay subgrade.

  4. Paver install

Pavers are laid in a 45 or 90 degree herringbone or your chosen pattern and plate-compacted into the sand bed.

  5. Edges & joints

Concrete or spiked edge restraint locks the field and joint sand is set before you drive on it.

FAQ

Paver Driveways questions

How soon can I park on a new paver driveway?

You can drive on it as soon as the joint sand is set, usually the day we finish. There is no curing period like concrete.

Are paver driveways more expensive than concrete?

The upfront cost is usually higher than plain concrete. Pavers don't crack the way slabs do and repairs are small, so many homeowners find the cost evens out over the life of the driveway.

What pattern is best for a driveway?

Herringbone resists shifting under turning tires better than other patterns, so it's our standard recommendation for drives. Borders can use any pattern.

Do you handle the sidewalk and curb cut?

Work in the public right-of-way usually needs a city permit. We let you know what your city requires and can include that work in the scope.
